super/collider's Apollo season kicked off with the UK premiere of Orphans of Apollo, an award-winning documentary about
the start of the private space race. disillusioned with the lack of progress in opening up the final frontier, a band of space entrepreneurs fly to Moscow in the late 1990s to negotiate a deal with the cash-strapped Soviet-era space agency. the documentary follows them as they board a Gulfstream jet, assemble a crew of mercenary astronauts and sign one of the biggest business deals in history: the takeover of a functioning Russian space station. the event was attended by the film's director Michael Potter, Bee Thakore of the International Space University and other space luminaries like future space tourist Per Wimmer.

super/collider's debut event saw the UK public premiere of the Japanese space agency’s High-Defintion moon footage, shot by the SELENE lunar space probe. the free screening took place as part of the Science Museum’s new Lates programme, and was followed by a Q&A with JAXA mission planner Dr. Shin-ichi Sobue, live from Japan. since the projector supplied to us wasn't actually HD, we are planning to reprise this event later in the year (email us to be added to our events list).
don’t miss your chance to see this amazing footage – the closest you can get to flying over the moon!
